Black copper marans are known for their stunning plumage with copper markings and ability to lay dark chcolate colored eggs. They are dual purpose breeds meaning they are good for eggs and meat producion.
 
Apperance they have black feathers with beautiful iridescent green sheen. Thy are medium in size, with rooster weighing about 8 1/2 and hen around 7 pounds.
 
Egg Production They are know for laying darker coored eggs among all marans and they lay abut 150-200 eggs per year. The color of eggs can also vary, sometimes can be a bit lighter or darker.
 
Temperament and care They are docile and easy to car for, an excellent choice for beginners. They are hardy and tolerate both warm and cold climates. They thrive in free ranging or in an confined stting either one is tolerable with the breed.
 
Origin They originated from Western France in the town Marans and the name marans is used for both single bird or multiple birds as it came from the nameof a French town Marans.
