The Hamburg is an old, ornamental chicken breed known for being active, excellent foragers, and prolific layers of small white eggs, despite their small size. They are popular show birds due to their striking appearance, especially the Silver Spangled variety.
Appearance: Graceful, upright stance, large rose comb, white earlobes, and grayish-blue legs (except for the black variety)
Size: Small (hens around 4 lbs, roosters around 5 lbs)
Egg Production: High (120-225 small white eggs/year)
Temperament: Active, alert, flighty, and independent; not a lap chicken
Foraging: Excellent foragers, happiest free-ranging. But a little flighty.
Hardiness: Hardy in winter due to their rose combs, which prevent frostbite.
Origin: Holland (developed further in England)
We are not responsible for hatching rates.
