Speckled Sussex

The Speckled Sussex is a popular, docile, and hardy dual-purpose heritage breed, known for its striking mahogany feathers with white, beetle-black tipped speckles. they are excellent foragers, thrive in both hot and cold climates, and make friendly, curious backyard pets. 
Appearance: Rich mahogany base color with white, speckled tips that often increase in number after each annual molt.
Size: A medium-to-heavy breed, with hens typically weighing 6–7 pounds and roosters 8–9 pounds.
Egg Production: Known for consistent, high-volume, year-round egg production of large brown or tinted eggs. 200–250 large light-brown eggs annually,
Temperament: Friendly, inquisitive, and calm, making them great for families and beginners.
Versatility: They are well-suited for free-range, as they are active foragers, but adapt well to confinement too.
Broodiness: Hens are often broody and make attentive mothers.
